IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

A recent report shows Iowa City's drinking water far surpassed federal and state water quality standards for 2014.

Since 1999, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has required municipalities to provide a report to its residents each year on the quality of its drinking water.

The report, known as the "Consumer Confidence Report" (CCR), includes information on water sources and water treatment methods, as well as information on impurities that may have been present in the local drinking water.

Water supplies are regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

A copy of the report has been posted to the City's website at www.icgov.org/ccreport.
