IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

The deadline for Iowa City's Human Right Commission's youth award nominations are nearing

Its Annual Youth Awards recognize the contributions of young people who have promoted and/or contributed to human rights causes locally or globally for work that has taken place since June 2014.

The work must have taken place outside of a class activity or pre-organized event.

The Youth Ally Award honors an adult who has empowered and inspired young people to become involved in human rights activities.

Nomination forms and additional information on the awards are available online at www.icgov.org/humanrights. Printed copies may be requested by contacting the City of Iowa City Human Rights Office at humanrights@iowa-city.org or calling 319-356-5022.

Nominations must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 24. They may be e-mailed to humanrights@iowa-city.org, faxed to 319-887-6213 or dropped off or mailed to City Hall.
