Kernels drop Beloit 8-3 in home opener to remain perfect

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

 The Cedar Rapids Kernels made it 4 straight, knocking off Beloit 8-3 in the team's home opener on Sunday.

The Kernels shot out of the gate knocking in 5 early runs. Tyler Kuresa's rbi double capped a 2 run first inning. Zack Larson struck a big blow in the second as 3 runs scored on a bases loaded double putting Cedar Rapids ahead 5-1 after 2 innings. The Kernels added 3 insurance runs in the 8th.

Larson led the way going 2-5 with 4 rbi's in the game.

Zach Tillery grabbed the win in relief, allowing just 1 hit and striking out 4 in 3 2/3 innings of scoreless work.
