IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

An Iowa City man faces multiple charges after police say he tried to take one of their weapons. Ben Jackson, 40, was booked in the Johnson County Jail early on Wednesday morning.

Police say they stopped him Tuesday night because he looked like a suspect in an assault; criminal complaints say that after they stopped him he held out his hand and said "give me your gun." After that, they say he lunged at the officer, so the officer pulled out a taser and told Jackson to get on the ground; however, Jackson wouldn't do that so he was tased.

Officers say that he pulled the prongs out and came towards them aggressively, so they tased him several more times. Officers say it got physical before he was taken into custody.

Jackson's charged with interference with official acts and disarming a peace officer - which is a class D felony.
