WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A woman is out of the hospital after being stabbed in the arm and leg in downtown Waterloo.

Waterloo Police were called to a fight on the 4th floor of 627 Sycamore St.

Police say Mekaila Shane, 22, then stabbed Genesis Wilder, 22, in the arm and leg.

Wilder tried to walk to the hospital but stopped in front of the KWWL building and called an ambulance.

Wilder was taken to Allen Hospital. She is expected to survive.

Shane was arrested for willful injury and going armed with intent.

PREVIOUS STORY:

A woman is recovering from stab wounds. Police say it happened around midnight in the 600 block of Sycamore Street. The woman then tried to walk on her own to the hospital until emergency personnel told her to stay put.

An ambulance took her to the hospital, and it picked her up right outside KWWL.

She is expected to survive.
