IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

A Iowa City Police Department officer is no longer with the department following accusations he was drunk while driving a vehicle in February.

North Liberty police arrested 39-year-old Carlos Trevino Jr. after receiving a report of a person appearing to be passed out in a vehicle's driver seat at an intersection on Feb. 10.

Officers say Trevino had blood-shot and watery eyes, slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. A police complaint says Trevino had a blood alcohol content of 0.197. The legal limit in Iowa is 0.08.

Sgt. Scott Gaarde with Iowa City Police says Trevino is no longer employed with the department and wouldn't elaborate on if Trevino was terminated or he resigned.

Trevino has been charged with first offense drunken driving.

Trevino was on leave until an internal investigation was completed.
