WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (KWWL) -

Iowa scored 8 runs in the 8th inning to rally past Purdue for a 10-5 win Saturday afternoon. The win moved the Hawkeyes to 5-0 in Big Ten Conference play, tying the best start in program history.

The win seemed in doubt in the bottom of the 4th when the Boilermakers' Kyle Wood teed off on a solo shot in the leadoff spot. Purdue later knocked in 2 more runs on Iowa starter Blake Hickman to take a 4-1 lead.

The Hawkeyes got one back in the 5th on an RBI double to left from Nick Mangler. They would then bust open the floodgates in the 8th. Eleven batters came to the plate as Iowa tallied 6 hits in the inning, 1 walk, and 1 hit by pitch, as 8 runs would go up on the scoreboard for a 10-4 lead. Purdue managed to get one back in the 9th before Iowa's Luke Vandermaten shut the door on the mound.

The Hawkeyes and Boilermakers wrap up their series at noon on Sunday.
