Local soldiers are being recognized after taking part in the Iowa Army National Guard's annual Best Warrior Competition.

The three-day competition was held at Camp Dodge, on March 20th through 22nd.

Soldiers were tested on physical fitness, marksmanship, writing ability, and other skills and drills.

Pfc. Dakota VanBrocklin, of Dubuque was the second place finished in the Soldier of the Year Category.  VanBrocklin is from the 134th Medical Company, based in Johnston.

Staff Sgt. Andrew Johnson, of Cedar Falls finished second in the Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year category.  Johnson is from Joint Forces Headquarters, also in Johnston.
