Memorial for dead teen destroyed by vandals

A Marion family is looking for answers after a group of kids reportedly kicked down their dead son's memorial until it fell to the ground and shattered.

It happened in Thomas Park around 9 pm Wednesday night.

Just wires are whats left of what was the memorial in Todd Little's honor.

Little died in April of 1999.

"We knew this is where he passed away, and we just wanted to leave something here to remember," says his father, Mike Little.

"I was at work, I work at St. Luke's Hospital, so that's where they brought him. They called me and told me Todd had collapsed at track practice, and I thought 'ok, well I'll be waiting for him,'" he says.

Little says the memorial serves more than his family. It's a place to sit and reflect.

"The lady said when they were kicking it, the light snapped off on top, wires were exposed, and I guess sparks were flying. That's what made them get out of here," Little says.

Now Little is working to fix the centerpiece, he say's he can take care of that himself.

He's grateful the plaque with his son's face engraved was left unscathed.

Now he just wants answers.

"I'd love to talk to them. They can just call me. I'll meet them down here or anywhere they want. I'm just curious why. Why? I want to make them understand you don't destroy something like this just for something to do."

Little says he's grateful for the woman who called the police, and he will not press charges.
