CLIVE (KWWL) -

A Marion woman is one of two new members of the Iowa Lottery Board after being confirmed by the Iowa Senate.

Mary Rathje, along with Connor Flynn, Jr. of Des Moines, were nominated by Governor Branstad on March 2.

Rathje is the officer manager and controller for her family's construction business, Rathje Construction Co.

Rathje and Flynn begin their terms on May 1. They run through April 30, 2019.

Rathje, who replaces Deb Burnight of Sioux City, will be one of two Marion residents on the board. Mike Klappholz, retired Cedar Rapids Police Chief, is also from Marion. Flynn replaces Herman Richter of Milford.

The Iowa Lottery Board is responsible for establishing rules and policies for the lottery's operation, approving the lottery's budget, and working with the CEO to approve lottery contracts.
