A female inmate died of asphyxiation Saturday at the Jones County Jail, according to a release from the Jones County Sheriff.

According to the release, Tana Lekin, 41, had been arrested early Saturday morning and charged with second-degree burglary, possession of burglar's tools, and impersonating an officer, among other charges.

The release said jail staff found an unconscious female in her cell around 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Anamosa Ambulance responded and attempted to revive her.
