Strong winds, high temps in the 70s, low dew points and bone-dry grasses create a high fire danger over the area for this afternoon -- and we're tracking a line of thunderstorms tonight.

Any burning will quickly get out of control, as winds will be south at 15-30 miles per hour and gusting to 40 miles per hour at times.

Temperatures will climb into the 70s for the afternoon.

A cold front tracking through this evening and overnight will set off thunderstorms that will bring some much-needed rain to the area, but we will only get about half an inch to an inch...we need more than a couple inches in several areas.

We cool into the upper 40s on Friday with upper 50s returning for the weekend.

Another round of showers and storms will track through for the beginning of next week.
