Governor Branstad to sign sledding liability bill

Posted: Updated:
DES MOINES (KWWL) -

Governor Terry Branstad says that he will sign a bill that would protect cities from liability if people get hurt while sledding; both the House and Senate passed the measure unanimously in mid-March.

Governor Branstad says he will sign the bill on Wednesday afternoon at the State Capital.

The current law protects cities if people are hurt while skateboarding or biking, but sledding isn't included, yet.

Just last year, Dubuque banned sledding in some public parks because of a liability concern.
