Dubuque Police battling chronic speeding over weekend

Dubuque Police conducted a special traffic enforcement project over the weekend in response to complaints about chronic speeding in the area.

Police say neighbors told them drivers have been going too fast on Dodge St (Highway 20) and Kelly Lane near Edwards St. Officers patrolled there Dodge St. from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, and then shifted to Kelly Ln. until 4 p.m. Total, officers issued 17 citations on Dodge St., and 13 warnings/citations on Kelly Ln. Most of these were for speeding, but one was for underage possession of alcohol.

Police say the average speed on Dodge St. was 61.5 mph in a 45 zone. On Kelly Ln, it was 37.7 mph in a 25 zone.
