ST. PAUL, Minn. (KWWL) -

Former Waterloo Black Hawk Zach Palmquist has moved closer to an NHL dream as he's been signed by the Minnesota Wild. He's expected to join their AHL affiliate, the Iowa Wild in Des Moines, to close out the 2014-15 season.

Palmquist spent 2 seasons in Waterloo recording 13 goals and 44 assists in 124 games between 2008-2010. He recently finished his college career at Minnesota State-Mankato, playing in a school record 160 games while picking up 25 goals and 71 assists.

If he reaches the NHL, Palmquist will become the first former Black Hawk to compete for the Minnesota Wild.
