Johnson drops 16 spots in final round of Valero Texas Open

Posted: Updated:
SAN ANTONIO (KWWL) -

Zach Johnson fell 16 spots on the leaderboard after shooting 4 over par in the final round of the Valero Texas Open. He finished 20th in the event he had won twice prior to this weekend, ending up 11 strokes behind champion Jimmy Walker.

A lot of the problems came on the greens. Johnson debuted a new putter in the Open, opting not to use the SeeMore model that had been in his bag for more than a decade. The switch came after some tough results that had seen him drop to 148th in the PGA's strokes gained putting stat prior to the Texas Open. The results this week, however, were likely not what he was looking for as he dropped to 162nd following the four rounds.

Despite his difficulty on the greens, Johnson has seen solid results overall this season finishing in the top 10 in 3 out of 9 events competed.
