Students learn about history at Heartland Museum

CLARION (KWWL) -

Some Iowa middle school students will soon get some hands-on experience learning about agricultural history in Clarion.

5th and 6th graders from Ft. Dodge and Webster City will visit the Heartland Museum April 8, 13, and 15.

Museum leaders say the students will spend a day of interactive learning through fun exercises and small DYI classes.

Educators, retired teachers and qualified historians will answer questions about tall-grass prairies, natural medicines and animals that existed on lands that are farmed today.

The students will also tackle the making of old time necessities like; rope making, candle crafting and handiwork skills.

The museum started in 1999 and has expanded to more than 74,000 square feet of exhibition space.

It is operated completely by volunteers.
