CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Two Cedar Rapids police officers were involved in a shooting shortly after 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

Police officers saw an orange BMW driving recklessly near the 1000 block of A Avenue NE, and shortly after following the car, the driver crashed into a telephone pole.

Police say the driver drove in a reckless manner towards the officers. Police fired shots at the driver, and he suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect driver was a white male. He was taken to a local hospital, treated for gunshot injuries, and then released from the hospital.

A white female passenger was also in the vehicle. The female passenger suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital where she was treated and released.

The two police officers involved were not injured. No charges have been filed at this time.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation will be investigating this incident. No further information has been released at this time.
