An Air Canada plane was involved in an incident when landing at Halifax International Airport early Sunday morning, injuring more than 20 people.

According to Air Canada, flight 624 was traveling from Toronto to Halifax when it made a hard landing and skidded off the runway around midnight.

There was reportedly bad weather and reduced visibility at the time.

"There was a couple of people screaming. It was more shock. We just thought that we were landing hard and then when airbags started to deploy and you saw things falling on the floor you said, "no, no we got to get out". And then we just opened the doors when we landed and everyone started to pile out," a passenger said.

The flight was carrying 138 passengers and crew members, 23 of which were hurt and taken to the hospital.

The incident remains under investigation.
