The Decorah Police Department says a woman was seriously injured after falling into an empty pool at a hotel.

Chief Bill Nixon says officers were called to the Bluff's Inn at 1101 Highway 9 West at around 10 p.m. Wednesday night after 27-year-old Irene Jones fell about 25-feet from a balcony to the empty pool below.

Nixon says Jones broke through a foam ceiling that was above the pool area which is not used by the hotel.

Police say Jones, who is from the Decorah area, was seriously injured and taken to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

Nixon says it appears to be an accident.
