DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Author Bill Jamerson will present a music and storytelling program about the Civilian Conservation Corps at Carnegie-Stout Public Library at 1:00 PM on Saturday, Apr. 11, in the Aigler Auditorium.

The CCC's worked with farmers in Dubuque County in the 1930's and 1940's on soil erosion control projects.

The presentation includes original songs, stories, video clips and reading from his novel.

The CCC planted over 30 million trees in Iowa, built bridges, erected telephone poles, constructed hundreds of miles of roads, stocked fish in rivers and lakes, repaired river banks, and fought forest fires. The CCC built parks including Breeds Lake, Lake McBride, Black Hawk State Park, and Clear Lake.

Former CCC'ers and their families are encouraged to attend and bring photo albums and other CCC memorabilia. This program is free, open to the public, and suitable for all ages. For more information please call the library at 563-589-4225 or visit Jamerson's website at www.billjamerson.com.
