Six-year-old making improvements after fall from window

A six-year-old girl who fell from a second-story window at her home in Waterloo is making huge improvements, but still recovering in the hospital.

It's not clear what happened, but Wilson's brother found her outside the house. A bystander called 911.

"Willow is just a happy-go-lucky girl, just a social butterfly of the school," said Mariah Havel, Willow's teacher.

"She loves to tell people they're beautiful. That's her biggest compliment. 'You're beautiful. You're pretty,'" said Melanie Onken, another teacher.

Willow is a kindergartner at Irving Elementary in Waterloo. Her teachers have been in contact with her since the accident happened, visiting her in the hospital often.

"Willow, in true Willow fashion, is making huge improvements," said Onken. "She recognized us last night when we went down. Was giving hugs and being her silly self, singing songs and trying to dance."

The school has really rallied behind the family. They're hoping she makes a full recovery.

"She's Willow. She's a fighter," said Onken.

Her classmates made cards for her and her teachers are helping her family with whatever they need.

One of her teachers even set up a benefit account at Veridian Credit Union. If you would like to donate, tell them it's for Willow Wilson.
