WATERLOO (KWWL) - A Waterloo man was arrested for attempted murder and other charges after police say he stabbed his wife several times in an attempt to kill her.

Reuben A. Stigler, 50, of Waterloo was arrested Monday and charged with attempted murder, willful serious injury, going armed with intent, domestic abuse aggravated assault and false imprisonment.

Police responded to 201 Allen Street just after 8 p.m. Monday.

There, they found Angelia O'Connell, 40, in an apartment bleeding profusely with multiple stab wounds, according to Waterloo Police Capt. Dave Mohlis. Stigler was also still in the apartment, according to police.

O'Connell was transported to Covenant Medical Center for life-threatening injuries. Mohlis said O'Connell is now out of surgery and was in stable condition.
