ISIS releases hit list of 100 American military personnel

Posted: Updated:
NBC News has learned of a purported hit list surfacing from a group, claiming to work for ISIS, encouraging their sympathizers to attack U.S. Troops on American soil.

The Pentagon said the group called "The Islamic State Hacking Division" claimed responsibility for posting the names, addresses and photos of nearly 100 U.S. Military members online, and that group is calling for their supporters to kill the Americans posted on that page.

The group said those troops were directly tied to the air strikes against ISIS targets in both Syria and Iraq should be killed.

The Pentagon is encouraging anyone on the list to be cautious, but has not made any decision to pull those identified off duty or provide personal protection at this time.
