Hawkeye women march past Miami into the Sweet 16

The Sweet 16 drought is over for Lisa Bluder.

The Iowa women defeated defeated Miami 88-70 to advance to the next round of the NCAA's in Oklahoma City.

For Bluder, this will mark her furthest run in to the to tournament in 15 appearances. The Hawkeyes, meanwhile, hadn't made it to the Sweet 16 since 1996 under then-coach Angie Lee.

Iowa received contributions across the board with five players reaching double digits.

Bethany Doolittle led the way with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Ally Disterhoft added 15 in the Hawkeye victory.

Miami made Iowa sweat a little in the early going after a 3-pointer gave the Hurricanes a 27-23 lead late in the first half.

Iowa responded with a 15-4 run in the final 4-and-a-half minutes to take control at the break. They never trailed after that point.

The Hawkeyes will face the winner of No. 2-seeded Baylor and 10th-seeded Arkansas on Friday in Oklahoma City.
