DUBUQUE (KWWL) - Dubuque Police say they've arrested a man in connection to a jewelry store burglary dating back to September of last year.

Wednesday night around 10:30, police attempted to arrest Matthew Burks on a felony theft warrant issued by Dane County, Wisconsin authorities. The warrant alleges Burks was in possession of stolen jewelry taken during a burglary at Shamrock Jewelers in Dubuque, on Sept. 8, 2014.

Officers tried arresting Burks, but he fled on foot, leading officers on a pursuit. Burks was eventually caught near Catfish Creek.

Burks was also charged with Public Intoxication and Interference with Official Acts. He was processed into the Dubuque County Jail and released Friday after $10,000 bond was posted for the warrant, and signature bonds were authorized on the local charges.

The burglary investigation remains ongoing.
