BLACK HAWK COUNTY (KWWL) -

The Black Hawk County Sheriff says if someone comes to your door looking for directions, look out.

Several burglaries have been reported in the outlying areas of the county, according to the Sheriff. They believe the suspects come to the door of a home, and enter if no one answers. If someone does, they ask for directions, and leave.

Authorities ask that you write down the license plate number of the vehicle if this happens to you. They also ask that you be on the lookout for any suspicious vehicles, and immediately notify law enforcement.

"We would much rather check someone out and find out if they do belong in a certain area than have people not call in and a residence is burglarized," the Sheriff's Office wrote.
