SEATTLE (KWWL) -

It takes more than a day to drive from Eastern Iowa to Seattle, Washington.  And the flights aren't cheap, either.

But that didn't stop hundreds of University of Northern Iowa fans from making the trek to support their team in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Leslie Prideaux, president of the UNI Alumni Association, organized a fan rally at the Gameworks in Seattle that saw hundreds of purple-clad fans show up.

"It doesn't surprise me at all. This is Panther nation. We will support our team in good days and bad days, and we are just on a really good day right now," Prideaux said.

And there was no shortage of Panther pride.

"It's unbelievable," said Sydney Aarhus about the experience. "You know, being a UNI Panther Cheerleader has it's benefits, but this outweighs them all. Getting to go across the country to cheer on a team in the tournament. It' s just unbelievable."

And a lot of fans felt very confident about the Panther's chances against the 12-seed Wyoming Cowboys.

"We're going to crush them," Aiden Martin said.

"It's going to be a tough game," Prideaux said. "But watching the way our players have come together and seeing how they play unselfishly, I don't have any worries."

The Panthers tip off at 12:40 CST.  That game will be broadcast on TBS.
