Hawks prepare for Davidson

Posted: Updated:
It been over a decade since the last time the Iowa Hawkeyes have won a game in the NCAA tournament, this years Hawkeyes team thinks they are ready to change that
It's been 14 long years for Hawkeye fans since that 2001 team won in the NCAA tournament... this years team faced some adversity with some losing streaks and they feel they are primed for a run

Iowa Senior Forward Aaron White
"Yea we haven't won a game since 2001."
These Hawkeyes feel like its about time that drought came to an end. After a roller coaster season the Hawkeyes earned themselves a 7 seed in the NCAA tournament and drew the Davidson Wildcats.
Davidson comes out of the Atlantic 10 conference with a record of 24-6... and they have built a reputation as one of the best offensive teams in the nation and they have 5 guys that shoot 40% or better from 3 point land
Mike Gesell/ Iowa Junior Point Guard "They can shoot it, and they can score they're a little smaller than us but their guards are very good."

Aaron White- "They're a great three point shooting team. Kalinoski is the player of the year in the Atlantic 10, they've got multiple guys from different positions that can shoot the three."

Iowa Junior Guard Anthony Clemens-"There's not a lot of weaknesses in their team but we've got to get after them every possession."
White- "Ya know a team like this if they make 13,14,15 threes you could be in trouble."

The case for Iowa... they've got a size advantage... and that has Iowa feeling confident scoring on the inside and on the the boards.
and has the bigger Hawks licking their chops
Adam Woodbury- Iowa Junior Center "I think I can have a big game every night just because he's 6-7 doesn't mean anything ya got to go out there and play, stay out of foul trouble and just do what i do."

Jarrod Uthoff- Iowa Junior Forward- "Yea I think our length is going to be beneficial for us I think they are going to have a hard time shooting over us because of our size."

Aaron White- "I think thats the strength of our team anyways is our frontcourt whether its scoring down low or getting offensive boards so we definitely have to use that to our advantage."

and while the Hawkeyes struggle in their conference tournament just last week

Jarrod Uthoff- "You just gotta put that behind us we had a couple bad games, that will happen."

They feel this is their year.
