Two arrested in connection to Butler Co. car chase

A Shell Rock man is in jail, accused of leading Butler Co. Sheriff's deputies on a high speed chase Wednesday night.

Charles McManemy was arrested after the chase reached 80 mph, according to the Sheriff's Office. A deputy tried to stop him around 7:30 p.m., near Austinville. During the chase, authorities say McManemy drove a pickup truck through several fields and pastures, damaging several fences and gates. When he was caught, deputies charged him with Operating While Intoxicating (Second Offense), Driving While Suspended, Eluding, Possession of Drug

Paraphernalia, Carrying Weapons, and Possession of Burglar's tools.

Authorities said they found brass knuckles, a Tazer, a crowbar and bolt cutters in the truck, which was registered to Janette Shannon, of Parkersburg.

Shannon reported the truck stolen a few hours after the chase. The Sheriff's office believes this to be false, and has charged her with Filing a False Report, Possession of Meth with Intent to Deliver, Possession of a Firearm as a Felon, and a marijuana possession charge. They say they found 5 grams of meth inside her home, along with a shotgun.
