WATERLOO (KWWL) - As teams prepare for March Madness, it truly is madness over at one Waterloo travel company.

Shorts Travel Management is in charge of the travel plans for all 68 teams in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament.

"We're tasked with going and finding the preferences with the teams and pairing them up with airplanes and getting them to those locations," said Ryan Dohmen, Shorts Travel Management.

The Waterloo-based company has been doing it for the last 11 years.

"We find out at 5 o'clock on Sunday, and from there it's putting the bids out to all the different carriers, all the different operators," said Dohmen.

Dohmen says they then pull those bids back in Monday morning and figuring out what makes sense from a time standpoint and logistic standpoint for each team.

Dohmen says it's like putting a big puzzle together -- but it's really rewarding when it's all over.

"It's fun to watch the games and know what's gone on to get those teams there -- all the detail, all the things that go on behind the scenes to get those teams to where they need to be," said Dohmen.

Shorts Travel Management isn't just in charge with this tournament. They also do DI women's basketball, the NIT tournament, D2, and D3 basketball tournaments.
