OXFORD (KWWL) - St. Mary Catholic Church in Oxford is more than 100 years old. Inside you can find many statues. They tell the stories of inspirational people.

"It just reminds us of the life of the person who lived that life," said Father Edward Dunn.

Now, one statue at St. Mary is missing from its spot in the corner between the church and rectory.

According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, Tonya Bulten knocked it over while drunk.

Now there are several pieces of what was Saint Anthony holding baby Jesus.

The statue has only been at the church for a few years after showing up with no explanation

"We think, maybe, there was a family who lost a son whose name was Tony, and of course St. Anthony, and we think maybe it was either the boy's brother-in-law and his sister maybe that found it somewhere and just thought it would be nice to have it here," said Dunn.

Dunn was looking into getting this statue repainted, though now he's not sure if it can even be fixed.

He feels it could have been worse. Luckily, he says, the doors to the actual church were locked, and all of those statues are OK.

"If the person would have gotten in there, just talk about the pedestals and so forth, there could have been terrible damage, too," said Dunn.
