Morris' buzzer beater pushes Iowa State past Texas 69-67

KANSAS CITY (KWWL) -

Iowa State never led with time on the clock. Monte Morris hit a pull-up jumper as time expired for the Cyclones' only lead as they dropped Texas 69-67 to advance to the semifinals of the Big 12 Tournament.

It was a huge night for Morris as he tallied a career high 24 points in the win.  Georges Niang added 22 as Iowa State advanced to face either Oklahoma or Oklahoma State in the next round.

The Cyclones won their third straight game having trailed at halftime in all 3. Texas led by as much as 15 in the second half, and Iowa State appeared to be in major trouble down 67-57 with 3:35 remaining. That's when they took over, ending the game on a 12-0 run.

Texas gave ISU the opportunity to win as Javan Felix, with the game tied, hoisted and missed a 3 pointer with 8 seconds left, rather than running the clock down. That game Morris the opportunity to drive the length of the court and pull up for the game winner.
