SHELLSBURG (KWWL) - The Benton County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help finding a suspect they say robbed a Shellsburg bank Wednesday, March 11.

The suspect is described as a white male approximately 5'4" tall in his late 20s or early 30s.

He was wearing a black, calf-length trench coat, black jeans, a blue baseball cap with white lettering on the front and black-rimmed glasses. He also had a fake purple beard on.

The suspect is accused of robbing the Wells Fargo in Shellsburg just after 2 p.m. Wednesday. He allegedly brandished a black handgun and left with money. He was last seen walking east down Jones Street.

The investigation is being conducted by the Benton County Sheriff's Office, Shellsburg Police Department, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Iowa State Patrol, and the Department of Transportation-Motor Vehicle Enforcement.
