First, don't miss the IRS deadline. You can get an extension to file but not to pay. 

Next, file electronically and try using tax software such as TurboTax that'll help do the calculations for you. 

Tax preparers say some of the most common mistakes made on tax forms are simple typos and math calculations.

And don't miss out on deductions.

If you don't itemize your expenses and your income falls within certain income limits, you can deduct up to $2,500 on the interest you paid in 2014 on those student loans.
