WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Mayor Buck Clark will not be running for a fourth term in November.

The former police officer, business owner and City Council member says he is ready to retire as mayor.

He says, "Waterloo has been very kind to me, but I will be 66 in August and I am really looking forward to lowering my stress level."

What's next? Spending more time with his family is something that is very important to him.

His term will end on December 31, but several ongoing efforts, including the continued sewer improvements, will keep Clark busy until his last day.

He says Waterloo is headed in the right direction and it's the city's leaders that keep the city moving.

"My method of management has been has been to put the right people in the right spots...driving the bus. We have very good managers that know what they are doing."

He continues, "I hope the next mayor doesn't try to micro-manage their departments. Just them run their departments, they are really are great."
