Gladbrook-Reinbeck Win, Belle Plaine falls at Boys State Basketball Tournament

 Both Belle Plaine and unbeaten Gladbrook-Reinbeck making their first ever trips to the Boys State Basketball tournament.  Top ranked G-R played Nodaway Valley while Belle Plaine met Earlham.

The unbeaten Rebels behind 31 points from Joe Smoldt jumped to a big early lead and cruised to an 80-57 win over Nodaway Valley to advance to Thursday's semifinal round. Gladbrook-Reinbeck led by as many as 33 points and were never threatened.

Belle Plaine led by as many as seven points in the first half in its game with Earlham but gave up a big run in falling 63-50 in its first trip to state. Earlham advances to play Gladbrook-Reinbeck on Thursday morning at 10:30 while Belle Plaine's season ends at 24-2.
