It's been six years in the making for Aplington-Parkersburg head basketball coach and school principal Aaron Thomas--who returned to his alma mater after the tragic loss of his father--legendary football Ed Thomas.

After six years of hard work its falling into place Thomas.

Thomas said, "When I came back here 5-6 years ago this was the goal when I got the basketball job. I talked to my dad about coaching basketball back here under different circumstances obviously him being here.. Obviously seeing AP basketball it was important to me gave me a lot of opportunities to go to school to go coaching at Union and to do it in you home town and my boys are getting to be the age when they remember this thing they're dreaming to be like our guys to be in the state tournament that is something you can't put a price tag on."  Aplington-Parkersburg opens the 2A State Tournament in Des Moines on Monday night against Woodward Academy.
