Getting the flu as an adult is less common than we think

Posted: Updated:

Scientists say that, as an adult, you aren't as likely to get the flu as you would think; on average people over 30 years old only get the flu about twice in a decade.

Their research of blood samples determined that the body's immune system produces antibodies to protect against the flu; though the virus can evolve, the antibodies can protect against old strains and fend of the flu.

They say that children get the flu about every other year because it can take years to build up antibodies.
