LINN COUNTY (KWWL) -

Three people were taken to the hospital after a crash in Linn County Wednesday night.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called to the intersection of Wright Brothers Boulevard and Lefebure Road, just south of Fairfax, at about 10:50 p.m. for a single vehicle crash.

Sergeant Richard Yoder says 18-year-old William Sanborn of Cedar Rapids was headed south on Lefebure Road when he failed to stop at the stop sign. The vehicle went into the ditch and into a field.

Sanborn and 17-year-old Madalyn Massey of Cedar Rapids were taken to Mercy Medical Center. Massey was later transferred to University if Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Another passenger, 20-year-old Zachary Scovel of Walford, was taken to St. Luke's Hospital.

Charges are pending and deputies are investigating if alcohol played a role in the crash.
