Western Dubuque took another step in its bid to return to the Class 4A championship game.

The second-ranked Bobcats got double-doubles from Rose Simon-Ressler and Megan Maahs in beating No. 7 Indianola 51-30 to complete first-round action in the class.

Simon-Ressler scored 15 of her 17 points in the first half and grabbed 10 rebounds. Maahs added 10 points and 11 rebounds and Morgan Pitz scored 13 points for Western Dubuque, which lost to Harlan in last year's title game.

Simon-Ressler's passed her season scoring average of 13.2 points with her big first half in helping the Bobcats (24-0) build a 30-17 lead. They quickly upped that margin to 34-17 early in the third quarter and were in control the rest of the way.

The Bobcats will play No. 6 Sioux City Bishop Heelan in the semifinals at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
