IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

An Iowa City junior high student has qualified for the state level of the National Geographic Bee.

Northwest Junior High says one of their students, Patrick Taylor, has qualified for the state level competition being held at the University of Northern Iowa on March 27.

One winner from each state and territory will advance to the national competition being held in Washington, D.C. May 11-13.

The final round of the National Geographic Bee Championship will be televised on National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo WILD on May 15 beginning at 7 p.m. Central Time.
