CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) - The Cedar Rapids Police Department now has a new way to look for suspects.

Officers have started doing "Wanted Wednesday" posts on Facebook. Each post will feature a person with an active warrant that officers have been looking for.

A crime analyst will send regular updates to officers about active warrants and when a person has not been located for several months then officers will appeal to the public.

A post on the Cedar Rapids Police Department Facebook page says officers believe the public can help in solving crimes:

"As the Police Department's Facebook page nears 4,000 likes, we would like to thank you for your great feedback and interactions. One of the main purposes of our community outreach effort is to educate and inform. With that, you will see that we introduced "Wanted Wednesday" which will feature an individual with an active warrant that the Cedar Rapids Police Department is looking for. Wanted individuals have not been able to be located for a period of time and we are posting pictures and information because we believe that you can help! Many of our posts have over 10,000 views. This means that you are making a significant difference and helping your local Police Department."
