PREVIOUS STORY:

Cedar Rapids police are investigating an unattended death.

Around 5:44 Monday evening, they received a call of a welfare check in the Burger King parking lot on 33rd Ave. SW in Cedar Rapids.

Sgt. M. Omar with Cedar Rapids police says the person was dead inside a car parked on the Burger King parking lot when officers arrived.

Sgt. Omar couldn't tell KWWL if the person was a man or woman.

However, she says the public is not at risk and that's why investigators are currently investigating it as an unattended death.
