Aaron White named Big Ten Player of the Week

Posted: Updated:

The University of Iowa's Aaron White has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week after averaging 25 points-per-game in wins over Illinois and Penn State last week.

White, a 6' 9" Senior from Strongsville, Ohio, also averaged 11.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals between the two wins. He was a combined 13-of-23 from the field, 3-of-5 from three-point range and 21-of-24 from the free throw line.

Against Illinois at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, White scored a career-high 29 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had two steals.

At Penn State, White tallied his third double-double of the season with 21 points and a season-high 14 rebounds. The Hawkeyes won the game in overtime.

White's 29 points against Illinois were the most for an Iowa player since 1991 when James Moses scored 30.

This is White's first career Big Ten Player of the Week honor.  Jarrod Uthoff was the last Hawkeye to grab the men's honor. He received it back on January 6.

The Hawkeyes take their four-game win streak on the road Tuesday to face Indiana before returning home to wrap-up the regular season against Northwestern.
