Wichita State holds off UNI in top 15 Missouri Valley showdown

WICHITA (KWWL) -

 The 10th ranked Panthers made a late run, but it stalled out as #11 Wichita State earned the Missouri Valley's top seed with a 74-60 win at home.

Seth Tuttle led the way for UNI with 16 points on 6 of 8 shooting. Matt Bohannon went 3 for 9 from the arc for 9 points.

The Panthers took their largest lead of the game at 20-16 following a Wyatt Lohaus jumper. Wichita State responded with a 22-6 run to end the half. The Shockers would hold a 38-26 lead at the break. 

That lead extended to 18 in the second half before UNI would start to rally.  Fueled by a 12-0 run on 4 consecutive 3-pointers, the Panthers cut the lead to 53-49 before Wichita State shut the door late.

Ron Baker led the way for the Shockers with 17 points.

Wichita State gained the MVC's top seed for next week's conference tournament with the win. UNI takes the #2 seed and will play at 6:05 Friday night against the winner of the game between the 7 and 10 seeds.
