ESPN's draft guru Todd McShay released the third version of his mock draft this week, and has two Iowa Hawkeyes going in the first round of this year's NFL Draft.
McShay has offensive tackle Brandon Scherff going 9th overall to the New York Giants. "I'll give them the ultimate tough guy in Scherff, who could either take over at right tackle for Justin Pugh or provide a major upgrade at left guard," he said.
Senior defensive tackle Carl Davis is the other Hawkeye off the board in the first round, going to the Super Bowl champs--the New England Patriots at pick 32.
"Davis would help shore up the defensive line," McShay said. He adds Davis could learn from veteran Vince Wilfork.
Other Big Ten Conference players going in the first round, according to McShay's mock draft, include: Nebraska linebacker Randy Gregory going 5th to the Washington Redskins, Michigan State cornerback Trae Waynes going 11th to the Minnesota Vikings, and Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon going 27th to the Dallas Cowboys.
