DIKE (KWWL) - "I'm going to make a snow angel, and then play a game!" says one Dike-New Hartford student.

Kids may love snow days. But parents don't always feel the same way.

"I'm picking up my children for the snow day," says parent Holly Voss.

Dike-New Hartford let students out hours early to get kids home before road conditions became too dangerous.

Voss says she's lucky she already had the day off work.

"I normally work in Cedar Falls, so I would have to leave work early accounting for the roads, and if I know bad weather is coming I have to scramble a little bit," she says.

So she's helping out her neighbors so they don't have to do the same thing.

"I try to help out my neighbors who work full time at UNI, so I'll pick up their daughter so they won't have to leave work to do that," she said.

Parents say it gets pretty frustrating when driving just a few miles takes double or triple the time it normally would.
