Dubuque Police warn of home intrusion scam

Posted: Updated:

The Dubuque Police are warning of a home intrusion scam happening in Dubuque.

According to police, they've received two reports of people posing as city workers trying to get access to homes by claiming they're working on a water main break or other similar emergencies.

The release said one man will distract the home owner or resident while the other person check for valuables to steal.

One report was on Algona Street and the other on Wartburg Place.

Police say you shouldn't allow anyone into your home unless you've verified their credentials.  They say if you have even the slightest doubt, call the police.
