Bowling tournaments could up tourism in Cedar Rapids

Cedar Rapids is having a ball, in a way. The city plans to welcome thousands of bowlers in 2015, according the Area Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Cedar Rapids will host three state bowling tournaments this year, bringing in a total of 5100 bowlers over twelve weekends. Officials estimate visitors will spend more than $600,000 at local businesses.

"Cedar Rapids is in the heart of the eastern bowling region in Iowa and attracts bowlers from the area as well as across the state," said Charla Green, Association Manager for the Iowa State USBC Women's Bowling Association. "Cedar Rapids is known for its fine bowling centers as well as the many activities to see and do while visiting the area."
